“what I found was the skills and experience that I have seem quite ordinary to me but that others find those skills to be very helpful. And so things that come naturally to me and I think will surely if I can do it everyone can do it, actually that’s not the case. So I have learned that it’s a great idea to figure out what your strengths are, what you find easy, what people thank you for and to go after those as a basis for your business if you are interested in going into business for yourself. And that way you will not only enjoy the work that you do but you will be able to help others who really don’t find it as easy as you do to do the things that you do ”…[Listen for More]

Juan Carlos Abello saw the need for a hospitality-focused solution such as Nuvola after working in the hotel industry for more than a decade. His first-hand experience sparked the notion that there has to be a better and easier way for staff to communicate with each other and with their guests. Abello began his career in the hotel industry shortly after moving back to the U.S. at the age of 17. He has worked in nearly every aspect of hotel operations, but always found himself focused on one thing - elevating the guest service experience. It’s his passion for the guest experience that led him to managerial and director of operations roles with leading hotel brands such as Morgans Hotel Group and DoubleTree. It’s also what made him take an interesting career move into technology that later resulted in the development of Nuvola. Following his tenure in the hotel industry, Abello was director of operations at a bourgeoning technology company in Italy called ZeitGroup. Discovering the ways in which technology can be used to successfully manage business operations, he was encouraged to take his passion for the hotel industry and his insight into technology to create a new career for himself. Abello foresaw the ways in which a cloud-based software would be able to connect hoteliers and their guests. His unique blend of experience bred the concept for Nuvola and feeds Abello’s passion for its mission to bridge the gap between the hospitality industry and those it serves. Abello graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business. He also earned a Masters of Business Administration in General Management from Emory University.

“you need to make sure that you have a culture that is well-defined. Even if it changes overall the core values of it you have to make sure that they are there and you don’t change them. And make sure that the first five co-workers that you hire are committed with you for the long run and that they have the flexibility, they can adapt to what could potentially, and it always always happens, to vast changes that are going to happen in your business. So, don’t be quick to hire, follow your intuition but make sure that you get that by in”…[Listen for More]

“if you are going to start a business that is going to be successful and you start it just to make money you are starting it for the wrong reason. If you start a business surrounded around something you are passionate about because you are going to have to put a lot of hours into it. “don’t be afraid to fail , don’t be afraid to start something that might not possibly work out. But also if you start something new especially if you have a full-time job and you try to start a new business because you have a great idea or you have a great product do your research, make sure you speak to everyone in that field, spend as much time as you can researching it. “live in the moment as clichéd as that might sound. What’s so interesting about our success as entrepreneurs is, we are constantly obsessed with what we are going to do next. And our obsession with what it is we are going to do next keeps us from doing what we are supposed to be doing right now as effectively as possible. When an entrepreneur can reduce their stress, they make really great decisions. Really great decisions lead to growth in your business. Really great decisions are impossible if you are obsessed with stress and anxiety. So, for entrepreneurs I say obsess with the present moment, just be today and focus on what it is you are supposed to do now. The more you do that the more precise the more excellent you are going to be at what it is that you do and the more effective you are going to be at delivering value to your clients, growing your market share and growing your business”…[Listen for More]

He’s gone from rags to riches to rags to riches again and learned along the way what real success looks like. Now he shares his wisdom with other entrepreneurs so they don’t fall into the traps and paralysis that keeps them from the life they actually want to be living.

“gain clarity on your purpose. What is so important for us to do is to figure out the why behind the what we are doing. We are driven by the what right. Many of us say we are all driven people. We are working hard, we are disciplined but if we can remember the why which is the purpose, the anchor behind what we are doing it’s going to help us to go so much further. I find the best way to get that clarity is to visualise the end result. Where do you want to be? Where do you want to end up ultimately? What mark do you want to leave on the world when you are gone? When we can gain that clarity and figure out where we are, we can visualise ourselves the end of that path the journey in the middle become so much easier to be able to navigate. If you are at the beginning of it or even the middle of it being able to see that end destination helps you. And also, just remembering hey I am going to get there. When things get tough it’s like no I am still striding on, I know what I am going for ”…[Listen for More]

Marc Azoulay is a psychotherapist in private practice in Boulder, CO and the current President of the Four Corners Group Psychotherapy Society. He helps clients that have a harmful relationship to their inherent aggression or who are stuck in the pain of their repetition compulsions. Many of his clients struggle with addiction, trauma, and self-harm. Marc helps people uncover and destroy the unconscious barriers that cripple them by using a blend of Modern Psychoanalytic and Contemplative Psychotherapy. His therapeutic style can best be described as irreverent with surprising moments of profound depth.

“connecting with other people that get it: I think that’s a key one. But I think another one that I would add is trying to understand your past, understand your stories. There is a lot of power in the unconscious part of our mind, there is a lot of power in this idea of a heroes journey. In a lot of mythology there is this idea that a hero has an early wound. And for a lot of us that happens in our childhood, maybe it’s trauma, maybe it’s where you are born. And in order to be a hero they go through this whole process where the wound becomes the strength and one is able to incorporate it. And I think if entrepreneurs can really take the time either through psychotherapy or coaching or just through reading books or doing self inquiry they can start to understand their life story and draw power from the things they are ashamed of because everybody has those things. But there is a way to reframe it, a way to fail through it and process it and those become our biggest strengths and those become what eventually contributes to bring our genius out into the world”…[Listen for More]

“get rid of the negative self-talk. I would say that we can be our own worst enemy. We can be the ones that stop ourselves from living the life of our dreams… The voice that is inside of our head… If instead that voice were not inside of our head but it was a person sitting next to us on the couch … We would look at that person the way that they talk to us and we would say you need to leave. You need to get up, you need to go right out of the front door and never talk to me ever again because this is rude this is not acceptable the way that you are talking to me.
