Matthew Luhn is a writer, story branding consultant, and keynote speaker with over 25 years’ experience at Pixar Animation Studios, with story credits including the Toy Story and Monsters, Inc. franchises, Finding Nemo, UP, Cars, and Ratatouille. Alongside his work in Hollywood, Luhn trains CEOs, marketing teams, directors, and professionals on how to craft stories for Fortune 500 companies, Academy Award-winning movies, and corporate brands grossing billions of dollars worldwide, advice he’s packed into his new book, The Best Story Wins: How to Leverage Hollywood Storytelling in Business and Beyond.

“don’t be clever but be honest, the vulnerable. This applies for you if you are a writer being that… Write what you know, write things that you are passionate about… and the same thing goes with any kind of business, for any entrepreneur, don’t be clever but create things, work on things, build things that you are sincerely passionate about. It’s going to be more honest and truthful. But it does mean that there is an element of vulnerability in there, it means really thinking about what you are passionate about in life, pursuing it even if you do not know you will be able to make a living from it yet. But I really think that the best creators, the best innovators that have lived are ones that have taken chances, that have pursued their passion and it’s worked for them”…[Listen for More]

York, PA musician, Shane Speal is responsible for the modern resurgence of the cigar box guitar, a once forgotten instrument of American blues and roots music. Few artists are as committed to expanding the boundaries of such a primitive instrument as Speal does. "A Cigar Box Guitar is quirky and appears ‘broken’ from the start," says Speal. "They just don’t look like they should play any music. I love to see jaws hit the floor when I shove a socket on my finger and wail away." In addition to performing and composing on cigar box guitar, Speal has also opened the first permanent Cigar Box Guitar Museum within the walls of Speal's Tavern in New Alexandria, PA. He also has an ever-expanding lesson series on how to play cigar box guitar, found on Youtube, CigarBoxNation.com, CigarBoxGuitar.com and ShaneSpeal.com. His column, The DIY Musician has been read by thousands at GuitarWorld.com and showcases homemade instruments, players and techniques. Shane Speal & the Snakes latest album, Stay Primal features cigar box guitars, washtub bass, washboard, tin can microphones, and many other DIY instruments.

“Practice an endurance sport before launching your business. It’s a long long road, it is arduous, it is thankless, it is tough, and the only way that you are going to get through it is by kind of having that mental fortitude which is really helped out by having a healthy dose of inspiration. So if you really feel that what you are doing is going to make a difference, if you really feel inspired by your idea, combine that the willpower and endurance to see through because it’s going to be a grind and you are going to get punched in the face over and over and over again and it’s what you do in those moments that is going to define the success of your business. And if you truly believe in it and you have the endurance inside of you, you will be able to pivot, learn, adapt and climb those mountings”…[Listen for More]

“it’s a challenge, it can be a challenge. It’s not without its hardships but they are the best kind of hardships. It can be as difficult as climbing a mountain but you know that not only when you hit that summit you will get that rush but if you have got your brain wired right just the act of climbing up that mountain is fulfilling in itself. This is how I know this is what I am meant to be doing. Because I am thoroughly convinced that failure does not have to be an option. You are going to fail along the way but ultimate failure and building whatever you want is doable, I don’t care what it is. I say now anything is possible. And as early as you can get your head around it, sooner you can afford it you doing go you can you need to hire talent and start succeeding through them. Because entrepreneurs people think that they are great at everything. They are actually just willing to do everything because they are invested in the mission… That doesn’t mean that they are passionate about those things they are just willing to do them at the best level they can because they are committed to the mission. “the magic combination of what you are good at… find your own way of doing it. Whatever field you are in there is a path that is there and there is some value in the past that others have gone on, you can learn a lot from that, but your secret sauce, you are bringing out what is really a value to the people that you work with, to your customers, is going to come from you, it is going to come from your unique way of doing the work. And so even if you have heard of someone else doing it in another way or even if you yourself have done a certain training or a product or service that you are bringing out in a certain way, allow yourself to put that aside and really allow your mind to be fresh and open to okay what is the best way of doing this if I didn’t know the right way, if I didn’t know that this is the way most people do it? And often times we will come up with different solutions, better solutions, solutions that fit as and fit our audience better. And it’s just a much more creative way of working. “don’t believe everything you think. It’s easy to get lost in thought and trapped by what seems impossible. But when you realise that you can’t believe everything that you think because what you think about a problem so often is what makes it a problem. Think about it how big is a problem when you are not thinking about it? The answer is it’s not a problem at all. The advice is not stop thinking about things but simply recognise that you are thinking and it’s because of your thinking that you see things the way that you do. When you’re thinking changes, when your perspective changes that’s when the impossible becomes possible and it is that shift in perspective that is the first step to real results”…[Listen for More]

Reshma Jobanputra's first entrepreneurial experience left her on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Her confidence and spirit were shattered, she thought she had failed. She developed an aversion, a fear of entrepreneurship. Yet now she 3 years later is a qualified Career Transition coach/ speaker and has started her second enterprise, one that is doing well. Her biggest lesson; entrepreneurship is not a one size fits all. As Eistein said 'Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree it will believe its whole life that it is stupid'. Her core message to all is; do work that you find meaningful, fulfilling and above all fun! The success will come almost automatically.
