“to not be focused on consistently having to raise more money… I don’t think you have a money problem I think you have a creativity problem… You have to find something that you can scale on and only then can you don’t more resourcing and money will cover that up a lot of times. So my biggest thing is you need to gain and understand consumer insight”…[Listen for More]

Larry Ludwig has had a long, successful business and entrepreneurial career. He is always at the forefront of technology, digital marketing, and online business. It all started when he went to work for the ad agency Poppe Tyson in 1994. He helped create some of the first websites for the likes of JPMorgan Chase, LensCrafters, Minolta, T. Rowe Price, IBM, and ING Bank. In 1998, he went on to work for the successful startup Commerce One, where he helped integrate a B2B solution for companies, including Eastman Chemical and Schlumberger. Later in 2001, he ventured off on his own and created Empowering Media, a successful design, development, and web-hosting service. He helped build the technology infrastructure to host highly trafficked websites such as Comedy Central, GM, Thought Catalog, and Nielsen. In December 2009, Larry created the website Investor Junkie to help satisfy his own needs and the needs of others to find unbiased investment content. From scratch, he created the leading investing review and comparison site, generating revenue only from affiliate marketing. In July 2018, Larry successfully sold Investor Junkie for $6 million. When not joyriding in his Porsche 911 Turbo S, his current passion is helping other business owners leverage technology and digital marketing.

“ultimately being persistent and consistently doing something. Maybe changing your approach but ultimately having a vision and dreaming that goal that you want to achieve and go for it. Don’t be afraid, don’t be hesitant of what others say, the naysayers. Ultimately you have to do something. Just don’t sit there, take action”…[Listen for More]

“just get going because it will never be perfect. And if it is something you want to do answer the question for yourself if you can do it by doing it… Keep going, it’s not always easy, it’s difficult… In a traditional life everybody tells you to be a specialist, become really, really good at one thing. And if you are an entrepreneur you actually need to do the opposite you need to become at least competent… If you become C+ or B at a bunch of things that’s way, way more valuable. So, if you are a C+ or B person that can-do marketing and accounting, sales that’s way more important than if you are on A+ technical person and you can’t do any of the other things. Because you have got to keep all the plates spinning and you have to at least be confident that even if you are not strong in accounting when you meet somebody who is you will be able to evaluate them. So I would say work on being a broad person ”…[Listen for More]

“do your homework and make sure that your idea is a viable idea… Get a good business coach or mentor who has already done what it is that you are wanting to do and to get that assistance along the way… Maintain a sense of humour at all times because you definitely need it. There will be great times in business and there will be probably some terrible times along the way. And if you think that’s not going to happen you need a reality check, it will happen at some point and it may happen at several points along your business journey”…[Listen for More]

“keep it in perspective, this is just the job. I always like to tell myself what is the worst-case scenario? Absolute worst-case is we close this business and I go and work for another business. Nobody is dying, it’s not the end of the world, it’s keeping perspective. And if that’s absolutely the worst-case scenario let’s take that risk. Let’s do what we are scared to do, let’s go out there and see what happens”…[Listen for More]

“just do it. Really there is so many reasons why you shouldn’t start your own company and it all boils down to do you believe that you are going to learn even if you fail in two years. What are you going to gain from the experience? And if you asked that question you will find out that wherever you are in life you will probably be better off in two years if you started your own company than if you were to just to stay on your current route and path”…[Listen for More]

“I think it’s important to know that it is great to be prepared and to be prepared is good but you are never going to know everything you need to know. At some point you are just going to have to take the leap and go out and do it. So, a lot of people have that mentality where they have just one more question, one more question, one more question and they are not quite sure about this risk or that risk. Life is not risk free you never even get out of it alive. At some point you need to be prudent and set up your infrastructure but at some point, you are just going to have to go out and take a risk and do something. And I think that separates a lot of people that actually go out and do it versus a lot of people who think about it and never actually take action”…[Listen for More]

“mentors are great. If you have an idea then just go for it. Find someone who is another entrepreneur and just talk to them about your idea and they are going to motivate you to keep going. Every other entrepreneur I have ever taught to almost always says what’s the worst that can happen, just go for it. And so my best advice would be get a mentor, talk that entrepreneur and give your idea shot and learn from your mistakes and your failures and then go again”…[Listen for More]

“move forward, just do it. You have an idea; you can act on it. And it doesn’t mean you have to jump into the pool, you can put your toe in. But do act on those ideas. If you do that and it doesn’t work that’s okay at least later on in life you don’t have regrets that you never tried. So try, go for it, don’t risk everything but do go for it”…[Listen for More]
