“It’s ok to make mistakes, it’s what you learn from those mistakes and how fast you can recover from them mistakes. What I see is people afraid to make any mistakes, they think they have to be perfect so they get into the place of paralysis or they don’t do anything they’re frozen. If you understand that if I make a mistake, I have to be able to quickly recover from the mistake, and the truth of the matter is all of us in life are going to make mistakes, its part of life. The only difference between someone who makes a huge mistake versus someone who makes a small mistake has to do with impact and it has to do with recovery time”…[Listen for More]

“Great leaders should also be great followers if that makes sense, you should realise that just because you’re in charge you don’t always have all of the answers, you’re not always right. You should associate with great people, let them shine, let them show their level of expertise and be willing to follow them when the time is right. It’s like me saying earlier I don’t get into the granularity of things, I’m not a detailed person, I can force myself to be but it takes a lot of energy and it’s at the expense of other things, I’m more of a visionary big thinker kind of person so if that’s my behaviour then I’ve learned to surround myself with people that are the opposite, that have the opposite skill as a strength because that’s going to align me with the skills that I want to create”…[Listen for More]

“Dream, plan, believe and act. You can do it, it’s just one step at a time, you don’t know how the dots will connect but you’ll look back and you’ll see how that path led you, you got to go for it, I know one thing I got from my parents, there were choices they made that were life and death and in 1945 my mother was part of a thousand girls they took on a death march in the snow through Germany, they were digging ditches in the roads to slow the Russian tanks down, if you’re too weak they shoot you. On the march they stop the camp, she starts to cry. A German soldier asks what is wrong, she says I can’t take it anymore, I’m freezing, I’m starving, kill me. He tears a sandwich in half, he hands her half and he says listen the war is almost over now is not the time to die, watch yourself, now go stand guard in front of that fire. The next day she noticed that when they marched through deserted towns and the road bent the crescent, there was a point where the guards couldn’t see you. She also noticed that when they stopped the camp there were many minutes at a time where the guards were not to be seen, there were 70 guards, a thousand girls and one of these times she got up walked away went into a deserted town, sees a house, breaks into the house, sees a Christmas tree with apples hanging, eats the apple and then realises she’s left her sisters back there, her friends, they’ll think she’s dead this could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for them, they can’t keep this up much longer what is she going to do, then she thinks I could not live the rest of my life knowing I could have done something. So she sneaks back, she finds her sisters and friends, tells them, the next day they’re marching and they get to one of these crescents they all scatter, she hides in a barrel and then when she comes out hours later it’s nightfall and no one’s around and just like that, she’s free and were her sisters. Most of the people on that march ended up in Bergin or Belzin and died there and so once again, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”…[Listen for More]
